Close to Kaprun and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, this ski area, known as the Wildkogel, is shared by the villages of Neukirchen, Bramberg and Muhlbach. You can ski down to all three. Many of the runs are red, but they are not difficult, and can all be managed by a keen beginner or early-intermediate. It's actually a very good place to learn and offers particularly good progression.
At the top of the system, above the trees, wide and sunny slopes offer long runs, gradually joining the tree line, then on through light forest to the valley. The Wildkogel is well known for scenic skiing. The lift system has developed in recent years and there's now a new 6 person gondola. For advanced skiers there's usually good powder and 10kms of off-piste. Between the three villages are numerous off the slope activities and good après ski.
Good nursery and intermediate skiing is offered on 35km of piste, with slopes above the tree line being wide and open. Beginners can start on the lower nursery slopes in Neukirchen, but they will soon be able to take the gondola to the Wildkogel area to enjoy the sunny wide blue pistes. Plenty of possibilities for intermediates, with long scenic runs winding their way down through the trees. Advanced skiers will be pleasantly surprised by this underrated ski area. Although there is only one black run, there are some challenging long red runs.
This resort offers excellent snow for February and Easter as well as a hot lunch being supplied on the mountain and there is also a bowling alley to keep the children amused. This is a typical Tyroleron village.
